Tree Skirt

Another Shisha stitch.

and a try at a stumpwork strawberry.

A little lopsided and I don't like the leaves, but I have to start somewhere.

Sawtooth Rail Fence

Loaded on Lenni and quilting away.

Here's a close up of the quilting.

The quilting design is from Mystical Cotton Tracks.  It's a DVD by Jamie Wallen.  He is an amazing quilter and I love his work.

The Devil's Teardrop

From the Goodreads website:
"After an early morning machine-gun attack by a madman called the Digger leaves dozens dead in the Washington, D.C., subway, the mayor’s office receives a message demanding twenty million dollars by midnight or more innocents will die. It is New Year’s Eve, and with the ransom note as the only evidence, Special Agent Margaret Lukas calls upon retired FBI agent and the nation’s premier document examiner Parker Kincaid to join the manhunt for the Digger --- or for hundreds, the first moments of the new year will be their last on earth."

Gotta say I really liked this one. There were a couple of twists that totally surprised me and had me going right to the last few pages.

I also have to say that I really love Goodreads. It lets me keep track of what I've read and what I want to read.

Lions

We saw lions while we were in Africa.  At King's Pool, we heard them at night but they were hard to find. We found these two on our last day there. Isn't she beautiful?

She's getting a drink.

And here she is with her brother.  The guide thought these lions were about 3 years old.

At Mombo camp, there were lions everywhere. Mombo's motto is "More of Everything". This group was napping in the shade.

He happened to be laying right by the road.

Look at this cutie. She's about six months old.

And here's an even younger one - about three months old.

This guy is dragging his zebra into the shade.  He's really, really strong. He didn't have much trouble moving it.  He'll watch over it until he's done eating. The vultures are waiting.

And then we have one of the lions from Vumbura Plains.

Look at that black mane.

Mistress

From the Goodreads website:
"Ben isn't like most people. Unable to control his racing thoughts, he's a man consumed by his obsessions: movies, motorcycles, presidential trivia-and Diana Hotchkiss, a beautiful woman Ben knows he can never have. When Diana is found dead outside her apartment, Ben's infatuation drives him on a hunt to find out what happened to the love of his life. Ben soon discovers that the woman he pined for was hiding a shocking double life. And now someone is out to stop Ben from uncovering the truth about Diana's illicit affairs. In his most heart-pumping thriller yet, James Patterson plunges us into the depths of a mind tortured by paranoia and obsession, on an action-packed chase through a world of danger and deceit."

This was great for airplane reading.  It was easy to keep up with the plot, no weird twists that I couldn't follow.  Just a simple, entertaining book.
