Happy New Year to everyone.  I thought about boring you with my New Year's Resolutions, but I really don't believe in them.  If something is important enough to do, do it today.  There's no need to wait for an arbitrary start date.  So instead, you get to see a few more of my Granny's quilt blocks.  I was sad to have to cut off some of the pansies to get this block somewhat even.  The pansies and the butterfly wings are embroidered with beautiful blanket stitches.

Mrs. Smith embroidered strawberries and blooms.

Isn't this butterfly wonderful?  This one also went out to the very edges of the fabric and I had to chop a few bits of it off.  At least it wasn't part of the blanket stitching on the wings.  Look at those M's.  They are the most unusual ones I've seen.  I'd love to see an entire letter written by her just to look at the handwriting.

As I pin them up on the wall, I can see that my next problem will be getting them arranged "just so."
