Granny's Quilt

Connie in Quilting

Another block on  Granny's Quilt is all sashed up.

If you look closely by the lily, you can see some of the design from the feed sack that was not completely bleached out.  When you see the block in person, the colors are still bright and clear. The writing fades in and out because Mrs. Traak used a variegated thread that goes from red to pink.  I hope that's right.  It could also be Mrs. Troak or Mrs. Trook, but really, they look more like a's than o's.  It's a little hard to read embroidery writing.  I will have to weave in a few tails, but that is a very simple matter.

The quilting is worrying me.  It needs to be quilted, but I want the embroidery to be the focal point.  I am pinning the blocks up on the wall so I see them all the time.  They are always in the back of my mind.   The standard grid is an option if I can't come up with anything else.  Hopefully an inspiration will strike sooner rather than later.  Then the brain cells can move on to something else.
