Connie in Granny's Quilt, Quilting

I received this quilt top from my Granny.  She told me I could have it if I would finish it, so I better get to work.  It was made for her as a wedding gift in Humphrey, MO in 1935.  At least that's the date and location on most of the blocks.  Each block was hand embroidered and then sashed together with a yellow fabric.  I have yet to find any blocks that are the same size and the sashing was quite wonky.  I picked it all apart and I'm adding a blue border around each block.  Then I will trim them all to the same size.  I didn't want to cut the original blocks at all.

I also need to do a bit of research, because some of the blocks say Humphreys and others say Humphrey.  I know it's hard to see, but the embroidery work is really beautiful.  I have no idea how I am going to do the quilting, but I will have quite a bit of time to think about it while I prepare the blocks.  Definitely quilted by hand and something that doesn't interfere with the embroideries.  Stay tuned for more blocks as I get them sashed.
